Mt. Airy, Roxborough and Northwest Philadelphia Information

Welcome > Local Info > Mt. Airy, Roxborough and Northwest Philadelphia Information ...

Chestnut Hill, Mt Airy, Center City, Montgomery County. Residential neighborhoods that epitomize William Penn's "greene countrie towne".

What's so good about Philadelphia?

Well, for one, it's about the greenest city you'll find in America. I'm talking about trees. Philadelphia sports the largest in-city park in the country. In fact, people drive in from the country (ok, the suburbs) just to walk, bicycle, horseback ride, run, or skip, up and down the hills of the Wissahickon Valley. It's big...I still get a little lost on the trails after 30 years of trekking. It's beautiful and it's full of local flora and fauna, from native dogwoods to sly foxes.

It's cultured.

Even New Yorkers traveled south to Philly just to see the Cezanne show that just finished at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The Philadelphia Orchestra is ranked in the top three. We have a film festival (or two) we have a Fringe Festival, we have a Beer Festival, we have a Folk Festival. We have a Flower Show and a Craft Show...they come even further than NYC for these two. We have museums galore...for kids...for adults...and for people who like weird stuff e.g. The College of Physicians. We have great hospitals (God forbid, you should need one).

It's educated.

We have one of the Ivy Leagues and one of the Seven Sisters. And then we have Swarthmore, Villanova, Drexel, St. Joseph's, Arcadia, Rosemont, Cabrini, Chestnut Hill College, Philadelphia University. I'm sure I've forgotten at least one, but you get the picture...you can get an education in Philly.

It's got food.

So the restaurant scene in Philly and the surrounding suburbs is phenomenal. In fact, many of the local farms that supply NYC's top-notch restaurants are in Lancaster Cty, PA. Our restaurants get fresher deliveries, because they're closer. Yes, like every East Coast City, you will have your choice of authentic ethnic cuisines, and a range of price points, but no matter, you'll never run out of places to get a good meal.

It's got mountains and an ocean.

Pocono Mountains and skiing to the north; the Jersey Shore and the boardwalk to the east. Our getaways are close and fun. And if you stay in town, there are plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities. Fishing, sculling, bicycling, roller-blading, running, frisbee, kayaking, skateboarding, and more and more....

It's livable. It's affordable. It's mild in the Winter and not so hot in the Summer. And it's the home of The World Series Championship Phillies.

Real Estate Tips

Cosmetic Improvements >Kitchen Clutter

The kitchen is usually very important to prospective buyers. Your kitchen may not be new and state-of-the-art, but it should look its best.

Your kitchen should be spotlessly clean and well organized while your home is on the market. The counter tops should be clean and free of clutter, and the floor should shine. Appliances should be clean and in good working order. You may want to add a few decorator touches or replace cabinets, flooring, and even appliances for a small investment. Dollars spent on kitchen improvements usually pay major dividends when you sell your home. If you are planning to sell your home and need some advice in this area, an agent will be happy to discuss your options with you.
